More than £3.4 billion in consumer benefits delivered under RIIO-2 plus major whole energy industry progress over last year

Our latest performance report shows how major progress in whole system planning, digitalisation, market reform and system operations has been achieved over the last year, with over £3.4 billion in consumer benefits delivered over the full 5-year RIIO-2 period through our work.

Set against a backdrop of a rapidly changing, complex energy system, we’ve delivered strong results though our third and final RIIO-2 Business Plan Period (BP3), which ran from 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2026.

While maintaining reliable and secure supply on a day-to-day basis, we’ve also made significant progress towards operating the electricity system at zero-carbon.

Following the North Hyde incident, we conducted an independent review to strengthen the resilience of Great Britain’s energy system, working closely with government, Ofgem and industry. With these partners, we also shaped major reforms including Clean Power 2030 and Reformed National Pricing, strengthened our role as a whole system leader.

Connections Reform marked a major shift in access to the network, creating a more strategic pipeline while highlighting the importance of clearer communication, realistic timelines and continued digital improvement.

We’ve also advanced data sharing, strategic planning, and expanded into gas and hydrogen beyond our original plans. Overall, our work over BP3 has combined delivery at scale with capability building, ensuring Great Britain’s energy system is in great shape for the future.
